Brian N. Williams

Director

Brian N. Williams, PhD is an associate professor of public policy in the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia. He is the author of Citizen Perspectives on Community Policing: A Case Study in Athens, GA, is the co-author of the book, Race, Policing, and Public Governance: On the Other Side of Now, recently published with Cambridge University Press’ Element Series, and has published in leading journals in public administration, public management, community psychology, education, and police studies.

Katie Cox

Student

Katie Cox is a Master of Public Policy candidate at the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. With hopes to pursue a career in international development, Katie takes special interest in community-driven programming and is passionate about empowering others to participate in the co-creation of meaningful policy change, both domestically and abroad. In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, skiing, and practicing yoga.

Domenick Bailey

Domenick Bailey is a fourth year Echols and University Achievement Award scholar at the University of Virginia. In the College of Arts and Sciences, he is a pre-law student studying sociology and psychology.

Lana Homola

Student

Lana Homola is an undergraduate student at the University of Virginia, majoring in Global Studies: Middle East and South Asia and double minoring in Health and Wellbeing and French. As a research assistant for Dr. Brian N. Williams, she has contributed to projects related to race, policing, and community relations. She is a leader with the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship and a member of Amnesty International, pursuing her passion for human rights.

Mia Bailey

Student

Mia Bailey is a fourth year University Achievement Award Scholar at the University of Virginia. Mia is a pre-law student majoring in Public Policy and Leadership in the Frank Batten School, while minoring in both African American Studies and Sociology. Through these areas of study, she is interested in using both policy and law to improve social equity and criminal justice reform.

Sabrin Mohammednur

Student

Sabrin Mohammednur is a fourth year student at the University of Virginia, double majoring in Public Policy and Leadership in the Batten School of Public Policy and Leadership and Global Development Studies. Within the Public Policy major, her area of interest is criminal justice reform, education reform, and public health reform. Her area of focus within the Global Development Studies major is international development within East Africa through the intersectional approach of public health and environmental sustainability. In her free time she likes to dance, sing, and hike.

Sebastian Singh

Sebastian Singh is a third year student at the University of Virginia. He is currently studying Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences and plans to obtain a Master’s in Public Policy from the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. He is especially interested in the intersection of these two disciplines and the implications for future policy aimed at improving social equity. He hopes to channel this interest into a career in public service, focused on improving communities by generating social change.

Tyler Litchfield

Student

Tyler Litchfield is a current undergraduate student at the University of Virginia majoring in Psychology. He is also an Army ROTC cadet. During his undergraduate years, he participated in a variety of ROTC extracurriculars including the Color Guard team, and studied a wide array of subjects such as philosophy, history and biology. He hopes to enter into the psychiatric field of medicine after his time in the Army.
